The painting is based on a 8"x10" study done during the Publisher's Invitational (Fall Color Week) at the Acadia National Park. The site would not take more than two or three artists setting up their easels and I shared my space with a photographer, taking turns as the light changed. The steep track down from the main road made it difficult to stay on to see the light fading into darkness. I had to finish my sketch before the sun set completely.
